About this position

Postdoctoral Fellow Position (100%) at the University of Zurich, Institute of Veterinary Physiology, Vetsuisse Faculty, Switzerland.

This project sits at the intersection of neuroscience and metabolic research. The lab of Dr. Christelle Le Foll is seeking a postdoctoral researcher to investigate whether astrocytes are required for the full therapeutic response to gut peptide agonists, including their ability to reduce high-fat-diet-induced hypothalamic inflammation.

The work combines in vivo and ex vivo approaches, including rodent models of diet-induced obesity, stereotaxic surgery, pharmacological interventions, metabolic phenotyping, histology, imaging, and analyses of neuronal activity. The role is highly experimental and includes approximately 70% in vivo and 30% in vitro/ex vivo work.

Applicants should hold a PhD in biomedicine, neurobiology, neuroscience, neurophysiology, or a closely related field. Required experience includes mouse handling, stereotaxic surgery and/or other relevant in vivo procedures, and research experience in systems neuroscience and/or energy homeostasis (feeding). Strong oral and written English is required. Desirable experience includes in vivo calcium imaging, ex vivo electrophysiology, metabolic phenotyping, and a FELASA B certificate.

The position offers an interdisciplinary environment with opportunities to collaborate across neuroscience, metabolism, and translational obesity research. The application deadline is 15 November 2026. Applicants must submit a single PDF containing a motivation letter, CV, publication list, and contact details of two academic referees.
