About this position
FAPESP (São Paulo Research Foundation) is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Integrated Oceanography within the Digital Ocean Laboratory (DOL) project, hosted at the University of São Paulo and the Offshore Technology Innovation Center (OTIC).
The fellowship is centered on integrated oceanography with a strong emphasis on the interface between biological oceanography and physical oceanography. The project uses data science approaches to monitor the ocean and the Brazilian coast, with research topics including physical variability and plankton distribution, ecological connectivity and larval dispersal, transport of organisms and biogenic particles, the effects of fronts/eddies/upwelling and other mesoscale processes on biological communities, and the integration of remote sensing, in situ observations, numerical modeling, and machine learning.
Research should be aligned with the scientific and technological objectives of OTIC and focus on the Campos and/or Santos Basins in southeast Brazil. The post is open to applicants with training in oceanography, biology, ecology, physics, numerical modeling, remote sensing, data science, or related fields, provided the proposal clearly addresses physical-biological processes in the ocean.
Funding: This is a postdoctoral fellowship funded by FAPESP. The post does not specify the stipend amount or detailed financial coverage.
Location: Instituto Oceanográfico, Universidade de São Paulo (IO-USP), São Paulo, Brazil.
Deadline: 20 October 2026, 23:59 UTC.
How to apply: Email [email protected] with the subject line Application to [HSE3/PD1]. Attach the required documents in PDF format and submit before the deadline. A related information link is provided via LinkedIn and the FAPESP opportunity page.
