About this position

Postdoctoral position at CY Cergy Paris Université: “Vin et connaissances” – EUR Humanités, Création, Patrimoine.

This full-time postdoctoral contract is part of the EUR’s transdisciplinary profile at the interface of the humanities, literary creation, and artistic practice. In connection with the project Le vin en pratiques, the postdoctoral researcher will focus on the role of wine in sociability, its history in relation to the arts, label design, vernacular architecture, and vineyard landscapes, while also helping to internationalize the research.

The position combines research, editorial, and coordination duties. The successful candidate will conduct and monitor the research project Vin et connaissances, contribute to the wider project Le vin en pratiques, and undertake extensive document collection, analysis, and archival work. The postdoc will also provide scientific and editorial support for the EUR’s future bilingual journal Humanités, Création, Patrimoine (French and English), help organize events, conferences, and symposia, and may assist with the supervision of DU/M2 students or doctoral researchers.

The role also involves helping to structure and animate an international research network in partnership with academic institutions, museums, and wine producers, as well as contributing to training activities and student follow-up. The work is based at Maison SHS Annie Ernaux, site des Chênes, in Cergy, France, at CY Cergy Paris Université.

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in the humanities, preferably linked to aesthetics, the arts, or the history and professions of wine. Strong knowledge of art history and anthropology would be an advantage, together with familiarity with material sources and representations of wine practices. The post requires an ability to connect humanities disciplines, a critical grasp of social science tools, and excellent academic writing in French and English. Fluent written and spoken English is mandatory; additional languages are welcomed. Teamwork, autonomy, scientific rigor, organizational skills, and ease in working with museum partners and in international contexts are all important.

The contract is temporary and full-time (38h35 per week). The application deadline is 1 October 2026 at 12:00 (Europe/Paris), with a planned starting date of 1 October 2026. Applications should be sent by email to [email protected].
