About this position
Postdoctoral Fellowships and postdoctoral positions are available at the Cosmic Dawn Center (DAWN) at the University of Copenhagen / Niels Bohr Institute, Denmark, with links to DTU-Space and international collaborators.
The call covers early-Universe research themes including first stars, high-redshift galaxy evolution, reionization and the evolution of the IGM, high-redshift transients and supernovae, dust and ISM in the early Universe, massive galaxy evolution, and dark matter. A specific DFF Sapere Aude-funded project, “Revealing Massive Stars at Cosmic Dawn,” is available in Associate Professor Charlotte Mason’s group, with a focus on observational and theoretical work on galaxy formation and reionization, especially JWST spectroscopy from the SPURS survey.
Applicants with interests in galaxy formation, stellar populations, Lyman-alpha emission, IGM/CGM evolution, galaxy-dark matter connections at high redshift, JWST NIRSpec spectroscopy, statistical inference, and comparing hydrodynamical simulations to observations are strongly encouraged to apply. Additional postdoctoral positions may also be available on other DAWN projects.
The positions are for up to three years and are expected to start as early as Spring 2027 or by agreement. Applicants are automatically considered for all available postdoctoral and DAWN Postdoctoral Fellowship positions at DAWN/NBI, though a separate application is required for DAWN/DTU positions in Kasper Heintz’s group.
Funding includes salary, pension, health cover, paid vacation, and support for computing, travel, and publication expenses. Applications must be submitted in English via the online portal before 6 November 2026.

What's required
Applicants should have a Master and PhD degree, or equivalent; candidates in the final year of a PhD may apply if they provide a letter from their university/supervisor confirming completion of degree requirements. The postdoctoral positions seek strong interest or expertise in galaxy formation, stellar populations, Lyman-alpha emission, IGM/CGM evolution, galaxy-dark matter connections at high redshift, JWST NIRSpec spectroscopy, statistical inference, and comparison of hydrodynamical simulations to observations. Applications must be in English.
How to apply
Apply online through the APPLY NOW portal. Submit a cover letter, a research plan, a CV with up to three referees, diplomas (or proof of completion if in the final year of a PhD), and a publication list.
