About this position
Yale School of Medicine’s Department of Neurosurgery is advertising a postdoctoral position in bioinformatics within the Barak and Gunel Laboratories in New Haven, Connecticut, United States.
The project focuses on the computational analysis of cerebrovascular genetics and multiomic data, including intracranial aneurysms, cavernous malformations, and arteriovenous malformations. The successful candidate will work with patient cohorts and surgical specimens and analyze data generated from whole exome sequencing, whole genome sequencing, transcriptomics, epigenomics, and spatial methods.
Key responsibilities include germline and somatic variant calling, variant annotation, rare-variant and association analyses, integration of genomic data with single-cell and spatial datasets, and development of reproducible analysis pipelines. The role also involves contributing to study design, interpretation of results, and manuscript and presentation preparation.
Applicants should hold a PhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, genomics, biostatistics, or a related field. Required experience includes single-cell or spatial transcriptomics and analysis of next-generation sequencing data such as WES/WGS and bulk or single-cell RNA-seq. Preferred experience includes statistical or population genetics, variant prioritization, human genetic and clinical datasets, and prior work in cerebrovascular or neurological diseases.
The appointment is initially for one to two years and may be renewed depending on performance and funding. Salary is listed on an annual scale starting at $68,000 for year 1.
Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled. To apply, send a single PDF to [email protected] with the subject line specified in the posting, including a cover letter, CV, and three references.
