About this position
Umeå University, through the Umeå Plant Science Centre and the Department of Plant Physiology, is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for a 2-year position in genomics with a focus on plant transposable elements.
The project is based in Nathaniel R. Street’s research group and investigates how transposable elements drive regulatory innovation in conifers, especially Norway spruce and Scots pine. The work combines genomics, epigenomics, 3D chromatin profiling (ATAC-Seq, easySHARE-Seq, ChIP-Seq, Micro-C/Hi-C, BS-Seq/EM-Seq), massively parallel enhancer assays (ATAC-STARR-seq), and comparative, Bayesian, and deep-learning analyses.
The postdoc will join Professor Nathaniel R. Street’s team at UPSC and collaborate with Torgeir R. Hvidsten at NMBU in Norway. The environment offers support for large-scale multi-omic data generation and analysis, plus transformation and embryogenesis services for functional validation in spruce. Nathaniel Street is also associated with SciLifeLab and IceLab, providing access to a broad international research network.
This opportunity is well suited to researchers interested in plant genomics, bioinformatics, epigenetics, and conifer biology. The post links to the application page on the Umeå University website.
