About this position

Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P), through its International Water Research Institute (IWRI), is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher to join the climate modeling and services team in Benguerir, Morocco. The position focuses on the development of user-tailored climate services to support risk reduction and agricultural adaptation in Morocco and across the African region.

The selected postdoctoral researcher will work on developing, producing, and assessing climate products and services based on observational and modeled data, while taking end-user needs into account. The role includes evaluating and selecting climate models, organizing user consultation meetings and workshops, contributing to the setup of a climate service platform, and collaborating with experts in climatology, meteorology, agriculture, hydrology, and related fields. The successful candidate is also expected to prepare reports, scientific papers, presentations for international conferences, and contribute to research project management and funding proposals.

Preferred expertise includes agroclimatology, climate services for agriculture, climate model assessment, data processing, statistical analysis, machine learning or AI methods, and strong programming/HPC skills. Applicants should have a PhD in atmospheric sciences, agricultural sciences, or a closely related field, together with strong knowledge of Moroccan or African climate and agriculture. Fluency in French and English is required, along with good communication skills and the ability to travel for missions inside and outside Morocco.
