About this position

Xi'an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU) is hiring postdoctoral researchers in computational chemistry, porous materials, artificial intelligence / machine learning, and photo-catalysis. The position sits in the School of Science and is linked to the XJTLU Technology Transfer Centre (XTTC) postdoctoral work station, with research directions spanning molecular simulation, quantum chemistry, gas storage and separation, carbon capture and conversion, and advanced photocatalysts for energy and environmental applications.

Applicants should hold a PhD in computational chemistry, materials science, chemistry, artificial intelligence, or physics, normally within 3 years of graduation and usually under age 35. Strong research and innovation ability, full-time availability, excellent English communication skills, and the ability to work in an all-English academic environment are required. Collaborative research experience is expected, and grant-writing experience is a plus.

The appointment is for 2 years. Compensation includes a competitive salary package of ¥600,000–¥700,000 before tax over the two-year period, a local government subsidy of ¥7,500 per month for up to two years, a ¥300,000 relocation allowance for those who work in Suzhou after successful completion, and commercial medical insurance. Working visa and residence permit support in China are provided. Additional funding opportunities may be available through national and provincial postdoctoral programs.
