About this position
Two funded postdoctoral positions are available in the lab of Kiana Amini, Assistant Professor at the University of British Columbia (Canada). The openings are in electrochemical energy storage and focus on two research directions:
• Postdoctoral Fellow 1: Redox-Active Materials — design, synthesis, and functionalization of redox-active materials. The ideal background includes materials chemistry, synthetic chemistry, and experience with organic and/or inorganic/coordination chemistry, especially redox-active molecules and materials.
• Postdoctoral Fellow 2: Membrane and Polymer Materials — polymer chemistry, membrane synthesis, functionalization, and characterization for electrochemical energy storage. Experience with ion-exchange membranes and electrochemical membrane applications is needed.
The successful applicants will also have the opportunity to collaborate with experts in AI-enabled materials discovery as part of the project.
This is a funded postdoctoral opportunity. Interested candidates should email [email protected] with the subject line “Postdoctoral Application – [Your Name]”, and include a CV plus a brief description of relevant experience.

What's required
Applicants should have relevant background and expertise for one of two postdoctoral roles. For the first position, a strong background in materials chemistry and synthesis of redox-active materials is expected, with expertise as a synthetic chemist in organic and/or inorganic/coordination chemistry and experience with redox-active molecules and materials. For the second position, expertise in polymer chemistry, membrane synthesis, functionalization, and characterization is required, along with experience with ion-exchange membranes and electrochemical membrane applications. Candidates should send a CV and a brief description of relevant experience.
How to apply
Email Kiana Amini at [email protected] with the subject line “Postdoctoral Application – [Your Name]”. Attach your CV and a brief description of your relevant experience.
