Postdoctoral Positions in Ribosome Biology, Synthetic Biology, and Antibiotic Research University of Illinois Chicago in United States

Two postdoctoral positions are available immediately in the Mankin & Vázquez-Laslop Lab at the University of Illinois Chicago, in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences / Center for Biomolecular Sciences.

The lab works on ribosome biology, protein synthesis, synthetic biology, and antibiotic research. Current research themes include engineering ribosomes for synthetic biology applications, understanding the fundamental mechanisms of translation, and studying how antibiotics act and how resistance emerges.

Applicants with experience in ribosome biology, ribosome profiling or other genome-wide approaches, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and/or bioinformatics are especially encouraged to apply. The lab combines microbiological, genetic, biochemical, and genome-wide methods to address questions in translation and antibiotic action.
