Postdoctoral Positions in Ribosome Biology, Synthetic Biology, and Antibiotic Research at University of Illinois Chicago
Two
postdoctoral positions
are available immediately in the laboratory of
Drs. Alexander Mankin and Nora Vázquez-Laslop
at the
University of Illinois Chicago
.
The lab works on
ribosome biology
,
synthetic biology
, and
antibiotic research
, with a strong emphasis on the molecular mechanisms of protein synthesis, translation factors, ribosome engineering, and how antibiotics inhibit translation. The positions are especially relevant for candidates interested in
ribosome profiling
, genome-wide approaches, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, microbiology, and bioinformatics.
Research themes include engineering ribosomes for synthetic biology applications, understanding fundamental mechanisms of protein synthesis, and investigating antibiotic action and resistance. The lab combines microbiological, genetic, biochemical, and genome-wide methods to address these questions.
Applicants should be highly motivated scientists with relevant research experience. The post specifically encourages candidates with backgrounds in ribosome biology, genome-wide methods, molecular biology, genetics, biochemistry, and/or bioinformatics.
To apply, send a CV and the names and contact information of three references to
Prof. Alexander Mankin
at
[email protected]
. The post does not mention a deadline, and no funding details are specified in the announcement.
More information about the lab and publications is available via the lab website linked in the post.
