About this position
Two postdoctoral positions are open in the Laboratory of Bioinformatics and Protein Engineering at the International Institute of Molecular and Cell Biology in Warsaw (IIMCB), in the research program of Prof. Janusz M. Bujnicki.
The project is funded by the Polish National Science Centre (NCN) and focuses on the design of RNA-protein interactions and complexes. The team aims to develop new computational methods for simultaneous optimization of RNA and protein components, with experimental validation of designed complexes. This is a strong fit for candidates interested in RNA-protein interactions, RNA-protein complexes, structural bioinformatics, molecular modeling, cryo-EM, and broader protein-nucleic acid interactions.
Postdoc 1: Computational biology — suited to candidates with strong software development skills and practical experience in molecular simulations. The post emphasizes RNA and protein structural bioinformatics, simulation of RNA folding and RNA-protein interactions in 3D, coarse-grained modeling, and development of scoring/statistical potentials. Programming in C/C++ and/or Python is required.
Postdoc 2: Experimental structural biology — suited to candidates with expertise in experimental structure determination of RNA-protein complexes, especially cryo-EM, and complementary biochemical/biophysical studies of RNA-protein interactions. Experience with RNA structure and integrated computational-experimental approaches is welcome.
Both positions are full-time postdoctoral roles for 36 months, with a gross monthly salary of 9,700 PLN plus possible bonuses and benefits. The lab offers an international, multidisciplinary environment with mentoring and professional development opportunities.
Eligibility highlights: PhD in a relevant area, defended no more than 12 years before the contract start; strong publication record; good English; collaborative and proactive attitude; strong fit to the advertised expertise. Interest in external fellowships or grants is considered desirable.
Deadline: 2026-05-20. Start date: 2026-06-01 or as soon as possible.
How to apply: Apply via the erecruiter system with an English CV, publication list, cover letter, and contacts for at least two referees including your PhD supervisor. Do not attach diplomas at this stage. The post also mentions possible support for external applications such as MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2026 and EMBO Postdoctoral Fellowships.
