About this position
We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant to join the Torr Vision Group in the Department of Engineering Science, University of Oxford (central Oxford, United Kingdom).
The project is focused on AI safety, AI security, adversarial robustness, and the control of advanced agentic AI systems. The research will study frontier models that interact with operating systems, APIs, software tools, other agents, and complex environments, moving beyond text generation toward systems that can plan, pursue objectives, and execute long-horizon tasks.
Key topics include agent hijacking, prompt injection, adversarial manipulation, unsafe tool use, oversight evasion, and transferable attacks across agents, models, tasks, and environments. The role also emphasizes building agentic systems that can autonomously discover, test, and evaluate general attack strategies to identify systematic vulnerabilities.
Applicants should have a PhD or be near completion in Computer Science, AI, Security, or a related field. A strong background in machine learning and/or computer security is expected, together with experience working with LLMs or agent-based systems.
The post is funded by Coefficient Giving and is fixed-term until 30 June 2027. Informal enquiries may be sent to [email protected]. The post mentions that the application link is in the comments.
