Idaho National Laboratory is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate for its Advanced Reactor Neutronics, Thermal-Hydraulics, and Thermo-Mechanical research area within the Materials and Fuels Complex Reactor Engineering team in Idaho Falls, Idaho.
This opportunity is centered on nuclear engineering, reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, thermo-mechanical analysis, and structural analysis for next-generation nuclear reactors. The successful candidate will contribute to reactor design and analysis, support startup physics testing and existing reactor operations, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and DOE stakeholders, and publish/present research at conferences.
Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold a PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related field, with graduation soon or within the last five years. Experience in reactor physics, thermal-hydraulics, thermo-mechanical, or structural analysis is expected. Familiarity with tools such as MCNP, SERPENT, SCALE, OpenMC, Abaqus, ANSYS, or STAR-CCM+ is considered an advantage. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain a Department of Energy Q Clearance.
Funding and benefits: the post offers a competitive starting salary of $105,144 and a 9x80 work schedule with every other Friday off.
