About this position

Texas A&M AgriLife Research is urgently hiring a Postdoctoral Research Associate in College Station, Texas to join the Antony-Babu laboratory.

This postdoctoral opportunity focuses on cotton soil-borne disease management and combines field pathology, pathogen genomics, and predictive tool development. The successful candidate will contribute across the full research pipeline, including field and greenhouse pathology experiments, Oxford Nanopore and Illumina sequencing, hybrid genome assembly and annotation, comparative and population genomics, molecular diagnostic development (LAMP, qPCR, ddPCR), bioinformatic pipeline development, and machine-learning/AI-assisted research tools.

The role also includes scientific publication work, collaboration with USDA-ARS scientists, and mentoring graduate students and undergraduate interns. This is a full-time appointment with an initial one-year term, renewable for up to four years depending on performance and funding.

Eligibility: applicants must hold a Ph.D. in plant pathology, microbiology, microbial or molecular genomics, agronomy, crop science, or a related field. Strong preference is given to candidates with experience in field or greenhouse research, microbial or fungal genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and Linux/HPC environments.
