About this position

University of Cambridge is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Associate position in the Population Health Interventions Group, Institute of Metabolic Science (IMS) Epidemiology, focused on evaluating food marketing restrictions and their effects on public health and nutrition.

The project examines new UK restrictions on advertising of less healthy food and drinks online and on TV before 9pm, as well as price-based promotions of less healthy products in England. The successful candidate will lead quantitative analyses of policy impacts on household grocery purchasing and the nutritional content of foods served by chain restaurants, likely using interrupted time series analysis and related natural experiment methods.

This is a fixed-term 21-month post funded by the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR). The role is based at Cambridge and can be performed as a hybrid position. Salary is listed as £37,694–£46,049.

Applicants must have a PhD (or be due to complete within 3 months of applying) in a relevant subject and should have strong experience in quantitative evaluation of natural experiments, including interrupted time series or difference-in-difference analysis. The post also asks applicants to demonstrate the essential criteria clearly in the covering letter and CV.

To apply, register or log in to the Cambridge recruitment system, submit the online application, upload a covering letter and CV, and provide referee details. The closing date is 14 September 2026.
