About this position

Postdoctoral Research Associate in Food Chemistry at the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture (Fayetteville, United States).

This opening is in the FDSC | Protein Chemistry department and the successful candidate will work in the Analytical Protein Chemistry program of Dr. Samira Feyzi (Assistant Professor). The research centers on food chemistry, protein chemistry, food science, and analytical characterization of plant and/or dairy proteins.

The postdoc will conduct and develop research on protein extraction optimization, purification, fractionation, characterization, binding properties, modification, and application in food systems. The role also includes developing instrumental methods to enhance protein functionality and application in food products. Experience or willingness to learn proteomics, flavoromics, chromatography, spectroscopy, and related software/instruments is emphasized.

Required: PhD in Food Science or a closely related field, obtained before the hire date. The candidate should be well-organized, capable of multitasking, and able to work in research labs with strong communication and teamwork skills.

Preferred: PhD in Food Chemistry/Food Analysis; experience with proteomics and flavoromics; protein characterization using HPLC, LC-MS, GC-MS, GC-MS/O, FTIR, NIR, CD, fluorescence, texture analyzer, and rheometer; amino acid profile analysis; knowledge of protein interactions with food macro- or micro-molecules; research/industry experience in protein ingredients; and lab management experience.

Funding and duration: Salary is commensurate with education and experience. The appointment is initially for 1 year and may be renewed depending on funding and satisfactory performance. Benefits are eligible.
