About this position
The Ryan Lab at Trinity College Dublin is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join a new team in the School of Biochemistry and Immunology, based in the Trinity Biomedical Sciences Institute.
This post is centered on mitochondrial biology, immunology, inflammation, infection, metabolism, and primary mitochondrial disease. The project will investigate how pathogenic mitochondrial DNA mutations reshape the innate immune response to infection ex vivo and in vivo, with a strong focus on mitochondrial immunometabolism.
Research activities include primary macrophage culture, mouse model-linked infection studies, inflammatory and infection-associated assays, cytokine/metabolic/immunological readouts, molecular biology, and genotyping.
The position is offered for 2 years in the first instance, with potential for extension. The anticipated start is flexible, ideally November 2026 to January 2027. The closing date is 07 October 2026 at 12 noon.
Applicants should have a PhD and relevant interest or experience in the listed biomedical areas. To apply, send a full CV and a short cover letter including the names and contact details of 2 referees (with email addresses) to Dr. Dylan Ryan at [email protected], using the subject line Postdoctoral Research Fellow Application – Ryan Lab.
