About this position
St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is advertising a postdoctoral research associate position in the Guenther Lab within the Division of Molecular Oncology, Department of Oncology in Memphis, Tennessee, United States.
The position is focused on pediatric bone sarcoma research, especially osteosarcomagenesis, tumor suppressor and oncogene function, and the discovery of novel therapeutic targets. The lab uses genomically engineered mouse models (GEMMs), CRISPR screening, complementary large-scale chemical and genomic screening approaches, advanced molecular biology, biochemical techniques, and pre-clinical models to study tumor initiation, survival, and mechanistic dependencies.
Research interests highlighted in the post include DNA damage repair, replication stress, ALT biology (alternative lengthening of telomeres), and other predisposition factors in osteosarcoma. The lab is looking for a candidate with a strong interest in cancer biology, willingness to work with GEMMs, immunocompromised/xenograft mouse models, and in vitro systems, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Eligibility: an MD and/or PhD or equivalent in a biological sciences discipline is required. Experience or interest in DNA damage repair, replication stress, ALT biology, or GEMMs is encouraged. Strong writing, presentation, and academic productivity are emphasized.
Funding/support: the post is full-time, and St. Jude notes a generous yearly Professional Development Allowance for travel to scientific meetings. No stipend amount is listed in the post.
How to apply: applicants should use the St. Jude careers link and follow the online application instructions. The post does not provide a deadline, so interested candidates should apply promptly.
Announcer: Dr. Lillian Guenther, an Assistant Member and physician-scientist at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, is the lab head recruiting for this opening.
