About this position

Postdoctoral Research Associate opportunity in plant immunity and extracellular immune signaling at the University of Florida (Gainesville, Florida, United States).

The position is in the laboratory of Dr. Zhonglin Mou in the Department of Microbiology and Cell Science, UF/IFAS. The project is supported by a newly funded three-year USDA/NIFA grant and focuses on how extracellular signaling molecules such as extracellular NAD(P) and salicylic acid (SA) are sensed at the plant cell surface and how they trigger local and systemic immune responses.

Research themes include receptor-ligand interactions, receptor kinase activation and phosphorylation, protein-protein interactions, calcium and early immune signaling events, genetic analysis of immune signaling pathways, and local/systemic disease resistance. The role offers opportunities to contribute to high-impact publications and develop mechanistic insights into plant immune signaling.

Eligibility: applicants should hold a Ph.D. in plant biology, plant pathology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a closely related field. Strong experimental skills, a solid publication record, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are required. Preferred experience includes plant molecular genetics, plant-microbe interactions, protein biochemistry, receptor kinase signaling, protein-protein interaction assays, phosphorylation analysis, and Arabidopsis research.

Funding: salary is commensurate with education and experience; the position is funded by a USDA/NIFA grant.

How to apply: submit the application online through Careers at UF by the closing date. Upload a cover letter, CV, and contact information for three referees. If selected, an official transcript will be required upon hire.

Deadline: applications close on 2026-11-10.
