About this position
University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC), Omaha, Nebraska, United States, is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate in the laboratory of Dr. Jian Xie in the Department of Pathology, Microbiology, and Immunology.
The project focuses on RNA biology, virology, cell biology, biochemistry, and immunology, with a particular emphasis on cell surface RNAs, glycoRNAs, and their roles in viral entry and infection, especially oncogenic viruses such as human papillomavirus (HPV). The lab studies virus-host interactions in infection, cancer, and innate immunity, and the position is supported by an NIH R35 award.
The successful candidate will receive individualized, mentor-guided training and work with emerging experimental systems and technologies developed by the lab and its collaborators, including strong collaborations with laboratories at Yale University and Harvard University. Responsibilities include experimental design, data collection and analysis, interpretation of results, presentation at scientific meetings, manuscript and grant preparation, and mentoring junior researchers as appropriate.
Required background includes a Ph.D. in RNA biology, cell biology, biochemistry, virology/microbiology, immunology, genetics, biological sciences, or a related field. Experience in RNA biochemistry and molecular/cellular biology is required; experience with proteomics, live-cell imaging or super-resolution microscopy, virology, or protein biochemistry is preferred.
To apply, submit a CV, a cover letter describing your research interests, experience, and career goals, and contact information for three references via the UNMC application portal.
