About this position

Goldsmiths, University of London is advertising three postdoctoral research associate positions on the ERC Advanced Grant project State-tech relations in the datafied welfare state [STATETECH], led by Professor Lina Dencik and based in the School of Media, Communications and Cultural Studies.

The project examines how digital technology providers and European welfare states interact in the context of data-driven innovation. The first two roles focus on ethnographic research on public sector bureaucracies across different European countries. The third role focuses on document analysis of partnerships between governments and digital technology providers across different European countries. A fourth postdoctoral position on infrastructure is expected to be advertised later.

These are 36-month, full-time (1.0 FTE) postdoctoral appointments. The successful candidate for the advertised vacancy should hold a PhD or equivalent in political economy, economic sociology, or a related field. The post also seeks experience in qualitative research, especially document analysis, and knowledge of public-private partnerships, government data systems, and digital strategy within Europe.
