About this position
University of Liverpool, United Kingdom is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate / Research Assistant for the interdisciplinary Outcomes Tracker project, working closely with the COMET Initiative.
The role focuses on natural language processing, machine learning, and large language models to extract and compare outcomes reported across clinical trial registries, protocols, and publications. The successful candidate will work with computer scientists, statisticians, trial methodologists, outcomes researchers, and patient/public contributors to curate datasets, build reproducible models and software, and develop practical tools to identify outcome-reporting bias and assess uptake of COMET core outcome sets.
Applicants should have a PhD (or be nearing completion) in computer science, data science, AI/ML, health data science, bioinformatics, or a related discipline. Candidates without a PhD may be considered if they have significant experience applying AI/ML to health data with a relevant Master’s degree. Strong programming skills, experience in NLP or machine learning, and a commitment to transparent, reproducible research are highlighted.
This is a fixed-term 2-year position with full-time hours and hybrid working (2 days/week on campus or at least 40% on campus). Salary grade depends on PhD status: Grade 6 while awaiting PhD award, then Grade 7 after confirmation of the PhD.
Deadline: 20 September 2026. Apply via the University of Liverpool recruitment portal.
