About this position

Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada, with the Maxwell Laboratory / BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute / Department of Paediatrics.

This postdoctoral opening focuses on cell biology, cancer biology, developmental biology, biochemistry, and related areas, especially mammary gland biology, epithelial tissue organization, immune interactions, cell division, mitosis, spindle orientation, and hereditary/pediatric cancer research. The lab studies how errors in cell division and tissue architecture contribute to cancer susceptibility and prevention, with emphasis on BRCA1-associated pathways, epithelial cell fate decisions, and translational cancer modeling.

Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field, ideally earned within the last 2 years, plus strong expertise in epithelial biology/organoid systems, epithelial-immune interactions, or cell division/mitosis/spindle dynamics. A strong publication record and experience with live-cell imaging, advanced microscopy, mouse or genetically engineered models, primary cell culture/organoids, or CRISPR/RNAi are expected. The post also values independent project leadership and commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.

Funding is a salaried research appointment with an expected salary of $65,000 per year. The application deadline is 2026-11-04, and applications are reviewed on a rolling basis until the position is filled.

To apply, submit a single PDF via the UBC Workday portal (JR26233) containing a CV with publication list, a cover letter, and contact details for three referees. For questions, contact Brenda Tse at [email protected].
