About this position

University of Sydney is recruiting a Postdoctoral Research Associate / Research Fellow in Multi-Omics Data Science within the Snow Vision Accelerator at the School of Mathematics and Statistics, Camperdown Campus, Australia.

The role sits at the intersection of bioinformatics, statistics, computer science, data science, and computational biology, with a strong focus on multi-omics data analysis and drug discovery. The program aims to uncover molecular mechanisms linked to aging, optic nerve vulnerability, glaucoma, and neurodegeneration, and to support translational therapeutic discovery.

The successful candidate will develop statistical and computational capability for pathway discovery and omics-driven research, lead research projects, collaborate across biology, clinical, and translational teams, document methods and findings, and contribute to student supervision and workshops. The post is part of a broader research environment including the Sydney Precision Data Science Centre and the Charles Perkins Centre.

Eligibility highlights: completion or near completion of a PhD in statistics, data science, computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field; strong computational skills; research strengths in at least two relevant areas; excellent English communication; and the ability to work independently and in multidisciplinary teams. Desirable experience includes large-scale omics analysis in R or Python, Linux/Unix and HPC familiarity, and student supervision experience.

Funding and terms: full-time, 3-year fixed-term appointment with potential to extend. Salary is Level A/B AUD 117,936 to 157,381 per year plus 17% superannuation.

Application deadline: Tuesday 06 October 2026, 11:59 PM. Apply through the University of Sydney Workday portal and include a cover letter, CV, selection criteria response, and supporting documents.
