About this position

University of Coimbra is inviting applications for a postdoctoral research grant in health sciences, pharmaceutical sciences, and biological engineering within the project ImpulseN2BD - Nose-to-brain drugs for the treatment of depression: boosting translational potential.

The selected researcher will work on developing pharmaceutical formulations and identifying nasal delivery devices capable of targeting new formulations to the olfactory epithelium. The work includes building a 3D human nasal cavity biomodel from diagnostic imaging data and collaborating in preclinical animal studies for depression, including advanced neuroimaging to assess efficacy of drug-device combinations.

Location: FFUC and ICNAS, University of Coimbra, Coimbra, Portugal.

Eligibility: Applicants must hold a PhD in Health Sciences, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a related area, obtained within the last three years. The doctoral research must have been carried out at a host institution different from the one where the grant will take place. Candidates must not exceed three years of cumulative experience in this type of grant.

Funding: Monthly grant amount is 1901 EUR. The grant lasts 8 months and may be renewable. Voluntary social security is available if the grant lasts six months or more, and personal accident insurance is included.

Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in Health Sciences, Bioengineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, or a similar area. The PhD must have been obtained within the three years prior to the grant start date, and the research leading to the degree must have been carried out at a host institution different from the one where the grant will be conducted. Candidates must not exceed a cumulative total of three years in this type of grant, and those whose doctoral work was mainly conducted at the host institution are ineligible. Eligible applicants include Portuguese nationals, EU nationals, third-country nationals, and stateless persons, as well as beneficiaries of political refugee status. Applications require a CV, degree certificate(s), and a motivation letter; foreign degrees need recognition or proof that recognition has been requested by the deadline.
