About this position

The Faltas Lab at Weill Cornell Medicine in New York City is seeking outstanding postdoctoral researchers to join their team in studying the mechanisms of cancer evolution and developing strategies to intercept them. The lab focuses on cutting-edge research areas including APOBEC3 mutagenesis and RNA editing, extrachromosomal DNA and drug resistance, noncoding genome in tumor evolution, AI-driven bio-digital avatars, and translational drug development. The research leverages patient-derived organoids, advanced mouse models, and computational approaches to understand how tumors diversify, resist therapy, and metastasize.

The lab is collaborative, well-funded, and offers a supportive environment for career development. Funding is stable and long-term, supported by NCI R37 MERIT, with compensation above standard NIH postdoc rates. Benefits include full health and dental insurance and subsidized NYC housing. The principal investigator, Dr. Bishoy Morris Faltas, is committed to investing in the career growth of lab members.

Applicants should have a PhD in molecular biology, cell biology, biochemistry, pharmacology, or a related field, with a strong mechanistic understanding of biology. Bench skills such as cloning, westerns, qPCR, and cell culture, as well as a solid publication record, are valued. Mouse experience and computational skills (R/Python) are a plus but not required. The ideal candidate is driven, thinks deeply about biological mechanisms, and is motivated to make a difference in cancer treatment.

To apply, candidates should send their CV, research statement, publications, and three references to Dr. Bishoy M. Faltas at [email protected]. This is an excellent opportunity for postdoctoral researchers interested in cancer evolution, translational research, and computational biology to join a leading institution and contribute to impactful science.
