About this position

Postdoctoral position in plant regulatory genomics and artificial intelligence at Aarhus University (Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics, QGG), Denmark.

The project is part of the GRASP initiative funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark. The successful candidate will design new sequence-to-expression deep learning models to predict gene expression from DNA sequence in plants, using new experimental datasets generated in the project. The research focuses on regulatory variants, gene expression prediction, deep learning architectures, and learning objectives for a model plant species, Brachypodium distachyon.

The position is based primarily at Aarhus University in Aarhus, Denmark, with a planned 6- to 12-month research stay at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory (Koo lab), USA. This offers the chance to work across two leading environments in plant genomics and AI, combining plant genomics expertise at Aarhus with AI expertise at CSHL.

Eligibility highlights: PhD in computer science, bioinformatics, or a related field (or completion before the start date); research experience in deep learning; publication record in international peer-reviewed journals, preferably in AI and genomics; strong English communication skills; ability to work in an interdisciplinary team.

Deadline: 20 November 2026. Start date: 1 April 2027 (or as soon as possible).

Apply via the Aarhus University vacancy page. For questions, contact Guillaume Ramstein (QGG) or Peter Koo (CSHL).
