About this position

Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech) is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Research Position at the intersection of Machine Learning, World Models, Agentic AI, Reinforcement Learning, and Climate Science.

Research themes include world models and generative AI for climate and environmental systems, agentic AI and reinforcement learning for decision-making under uncertainty, physics-informed machine learning and surrogate modeling, climate hazard prediction and resilience planning, high-performance scientific computing, large-scale simulations, and optimization of adaptation and mitigation strategies for climate resilience.

Preferred backgrounds include Computer Science, Computational Science & Engineering, AI / Machine Learning, Computational Physics, Earth System Science, and related disciplines. Applicants with expertise in world models, agentic AI, LLMs, reinforcement learning, climate modeling, scientific computing, and HPC workflows are especially encouraged to apply.

The appointment starts in Summer 2026 with flexibility. Funding is stated as USD 70,000 per year plus benefits, with an initial 1-year term renewable up to 2 years depending on performance and funding.
