About this position
The Department of Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center (VUMC) is recruiting a full-time research-focused PhD-level postdoctoral researcher to join a collaborative program in plastic and reconstructive surgery.
The position centers on bone biology and pathophysiology, tissue engineering, and fat- and bone cell-based tissue scaffolds for patient-specific autografts. The successful candidate will work with surgeon-scientists, graduate students, fellows, and multidisciplinary collaborators across VUMC and Vanderbilt University.
This opportunity is well suited to candidates aiming for a sustained academic research career in a high-impact clinical and translational environment. Responsibilities include leading independent and collaborative projects, designing and executing basic science studies, preparing manuscripts and abstracts, presenting at scientific meetings, supporting departmental research initiatives, and mentoring junior researchers.
Required qualifications include a PhD in biomedical sciences, engineering, biology, or a related field; a strong publication record; the ability to manage research independently; and excellent communication skills. Preferred experience includes cell culture, tissue engineering, clinical or academic medical center experience, grant writing interest, bench techniques such as histology, IHC/IF, flow cytometry, and animal/mouse work.
