About this position

Open call for three postdoctoral research positions in the ERC project Coded Secrets: Artistic Interventions Hidden in the Digital Fabric (COSE) at the Free University of Bozen-Bolzano. COSE investigates internet art and net art since the 1990s, with attention to the aesthetic dimensions, technical aspects, and the position of born-digital artworks across different layers of the internet.

The project is looking for researchers who can contribute to interdisciplinary work on digital art, networked art, and the technical analysis of programmed online artworks. Responsibilities include independent research, collaborative experiments, publications, exhibitions, presentations, and helping build an infrastructure for analysing net art, including the COSE Media Wiki database for sharing information about artworks.

Eligibility: applicants must be postdoctoral researchers and must have a fully completed PhD by the time of application. Applications are to be submitted in English and should include a CV and a portfolio of past projects. One position focuses on internet projects from Italy, one on internet projects from Eastern Europe, and one on applicants with proven expertise in internet art and a strong focus on technical aspects.

Funding and employment: the project is EU-funded until the end of 2028. The positions are 100% employment, initially for 12 months, with the possibility of extension within the project duration.

Deadline: 30 October 2026 at noon (CET). Apply only via the online application platform linked in the post. Use the position-specific form for the relevant track and consult the general information link for further details.
