About this position

University of Oxford is advertising a Postdoctoral Research Scientist in Immunology within Dr Ricardo Fernandes’ group at the CAMS Oxford Institute, Oxford, United Kingdom.

The project sits at the interface of immunology and protein engineering, with a focus on designing, producing, and characterising engineered proteins that modulate cell-surface receptor signalling relevant to myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPN). The work includes recombinant protein expression and purification, bispecific protein design and validation, protein-protein interaction analysis, multicolour flow cytometry, and functional assays using immune cells.

The successful candidate will develop and implement protein expression and purification workflows, produce and validate bispecific proteins, design experiments, analyse data, troubleshoot technical issues, maintain research records, and contribute to publications and proposals. Collaboration with colleagues and external partners is also part of the role.

Eligibility highlights: applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a PhD/DPhil in immunology or a related field. Experience in immune cell culture, functional assays, recombinant protein production, bispecific protein design, and flow cytometry is required. Experience with primary immune cells, proliferation assays, human sample processing, or high-resolution imaging of proteins on live cells would be advantageous.

Funding and contract: this is a full-time, fixed-term 12-month postdoctoral position starting in January 2027 and funded by the MPN Research Foundation.

Deadline: applications close at 12 midday on 28 September 2026. Interviews are scheduled for the week commencing 12 October 2026.

How to apply: submit the application online via the University of Oxford recruitment portal. Upload only a CV and supporting statement, and make sure the supporting statement addresses each selection criterion with examples. Quote reference 188590 on all correspondence.
