About this position

Inria is advertising a postdoctoral research visit in cross-layer machine learning for 5G broadcasting at the Inria Rennes - Bretagne Atlantique Centre in Rennes, France. The project is part of the ROBIN consortium funded through Bpifrance i-Démo / France 2030, bringing together academic and industrial partners to develop innovative 5G Broadcast solutions.

The research focuses on wireless communications, 5G/6G, physical layer optimization, MAC layer optimization, machine learning, artificial intelligence, resource allocation, and adaptive transmission strategies. The postdoc will design, evaluate, and optimize AI-driven communication strategies for heterogeneous indoor and outdoor deployment scenarios, with attention to robustness, scalability, and real-world constraints.

Work will include theoretical analysis, algorithm design, simulation, experimental validation, and collaboration with academic and industrial partners. The role is especially relevant for candidates interested in networking systems, broadcast/multicast communications, optimization, and data-driven wireless system design.

Eligibility highlights: a PhD or equivalent is required; a PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field is preferred. Strong skills in Python and/or C/C++, familiarity with MATLAB, Python, NS-3 or similar tools, and experience with ML/AI for communication systems are highly desirable. Good English communication skills are required.

Funding: fixed-term postdoctoral contract with a monthly gross salary of 2788 euros, plus benefits such as subsidized meals, partial transport reimbursement, social security coverage, leave, teleworking after 6 months, and access to training and equipment.

Deadline: apply by 2026-10-31. Applications must be submitted online on the Inria website with a CV, cover letter, and optionally letters of recommendation.
