About this position

Kyushu University’s Ago Lab in the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Science is recruiting one postdoctoral researcher for the JST Next-Generation Edge AI Semiconductor R&D Program, Theme 3: Next-Generation Transistor Technologies.

The project focuses on nanomaterials, 2D semiconductor materials, transition metal dichalcogenides (TMDs), semiconductor devices, and nano/micro-systems. The successful candidate will work on wafer-scale synthesis of 2D semiconductors, development of novel device architectures, and transfer techniques. This is a strong fit for applicants with backgrounds in materials science, electrical engineering, semiconductor devices, or closely related fields.

The position is based at Kyushu University in Fukuoka, Japan. It is a non-tenured postdoctoral appointment with an annual salary of 4–5 million yen, comparable to a JSPS Postdoctoral Research Fellow. Transportation expenses are available. The contract runs through March 2028, subject to extension depending on project funding.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. / Doctor degree. Selection will be based on document screening and an online interview. Required application materials include a CV with a recent color photograph, a list of publications and related achievements, a 1–2 page summary of previous research, and the names/contact information of two references.

The application deadline is 2026-08-31, and the recruitment may close earlier if a suitable candidate is selected. Applications are submitted via the instructions on the posting page, with email contact provided for inquiries.
