About this position

Singapore-ETH Centre is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher position in Computer Science, parallel computing, and high-performance computing for the development of a novel open-source accelerator communication library (OCCL). The role is based at the Singapore-ETH Centre in Singapore and is part of a collaborative research environment spanning Singapore and Zurich.

The project focuses on communication primitives and algorithms for distributed AI workloads, including point-to-point and collective communication, host-initiated and device-kernel-initiated communication, and performance optimisation for large-scale deep learning training and inference. The work also involves evaluating and optimising the library on GPU clusters and heterogeneous systems, with support for modern interconnects and frameworks such as UCX, NVLINK, InfiniBand, and UltraEthernet.

The successful candidate will co-lead development of the OCCL library, collaborate with partner institutions including A*STAR IAIC and NTU, integrate the software with the broader FastTrackAI ecosystem, and contribute to scientific publications as well as co-supervision of MSc and BSc students.

Eligibility highlights include a PhD in Computer Science or a related field, strong C/C++ skills, knowledge of MPI and NCCL, experience with HPC/ML communication technologies, and prior work on communication optimisation for large-scale machine learning systems. Applicants must be able to work independently, communicate effectively in English, and collaborate across distributed teams.

This is a fixed-term postdoctoral appointment for 2 years. Applications must be submitted online through the official portal. Required documents include a tailored cover letter, CV with two references, and university transcripts; recommendation letters may also be included.
