About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher opening at the University of A Coruña (CITENI / Polymers Group) in applied physics, organic electronics, and materials science, within the ERC Consolidator Grant PARACRYST (Grant 101086805).

The project focuses on the degradation of bulk heterojunctions (BHJs), the semi-paracrystalline microstructure of semiconductor polymers, and the long-term stability of organic solar cells (OSCs). The successful candidate will work on experimental research, advanced microstructural characterization, data management, scientific dissemination, and technical support for the PI.

Core techniques and topics include GISAXS, GIWAXS, TEM, SCLC experiments, accelerated lifetime testing, photovoltaic device aging, morphology-device correlations, and open science data curation (Zenodo / ERC DMP). The post also involves preparing manuscripts and presenting results at international conferences in organic electronics.

Eligibility: PhD or equivalent in Applied Physics, Organic Electronics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related field. The call values prior experience with organic solar cells, printing-based thin-film fabrication (spin coating, blade coating, inkjet printing, aerosol jet printing), Python-based data analysis, and strong English proficiency. Publications in high-impact journals and relevant technical experience are scored in the selection process.

Funding: Full-time postdoctoral contract, permanent type, 35 hours/week, funded by Horizon Europe / ERC. The work is based at CITENI, University of A Coruña, Spain, with an expected start date of 1 October 2026 and an estimated duration of 2 years for the assigned tasks.

Application: Submit via the UDC online services site using the official call reference 2026/CP/192. The deadline is 6 August 2026 at 23:59 (Europe/Madrid). Applicants from abroad in Spain are advised to contact [email protected] for instructions.

What's required

Applicants must hold a PhD or equivalent in Applied Physics, Organic Electronics, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or a related discipline. Strong preference is given to candidates with documented experience in fabrication, characterization, process optimization, and/or stability analysis of organic solar cells using printing methods. Additional valued criteria include high-impact JCR publications in organic/hybrid semiconductors or photovoltaic energy, advanced technical knowledge of solution-based thin-film fabrication methods such as spin coating, blade coating, inkjet printing, or aerosol jet printing, advanced Python/data analysis skills, and English proficiency at B2/C1/C2 level or TOEFL iBT above 80. All merits must be documented by the deadline.
