About this position

Leibniz Centre for Agricultural Landscape Research (ZALF) in Germany is inviting applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher (w/m/d) position within the SoilSoil? SoilRob Project focused on autonomous field robotics, soil health, and digital agriculture.

The research environment combines agriculture, robotics, environmental science, computer science, and earth science. The advertised work includes autonomous field robots and precision agriculture, hyperspectral/thermal/LiDAR sensing, soil health assessment and ecosystem services, machine learning and data fusion, digital twin development using Farming Simulator platforms, and sustainable cropping systems and smart farming technologies.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Agronomy, Environmental Science, Geosciences, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field. Strong Python and machine learning skills are required, and experience with sensors, remote sensing, GIS, or spatial analysis is desirable. The position is based in Müncheberg, Germany (near Berlin).

This is a 2-year full-time postdoctoral role on the TV-L EG13 salary scale. The post is a funded research job rather than a scholarship. The application deadline is 31 July 2026, with an expected start in October 2026.
