About this position

Aarhus University in Denmark is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for the EvOmics group at the Center for Quantitative Genetics and Genomics (QGG). The project sits at the intersection of comparative genomics, machine learning, plant biology, bioinformatics, and evolutionary biology, with a strong focus on crop resilience under climate stress.

The postdoc will work on the Novo Nordisk Foundation Emerging Investigator grant project Driving innovation in crop resilience through Comparative QTLomics. Main tasks include using large language models to collect and standardize functional information, developing computational tools that combine evolutionary and functional evidence, applying deep learning and comparative genomics across crops, identifying candidate genes linked to stress resilience, and contributing to software and web development.

The position is based at QGG, an interdisciplinary research center at Aarhus University with expertise in quantitative genetics, artificial intelligence applied to agriculture, population genetics, and integrative genomics. The work location is C.F. Møllers Allé 3, 8000 Aarhus C, Denmark.

Applicants should hold a PhD in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or a related field. Strong programming skills in Python, R, or similar languages are required, along with experience in machine learning/deep learning methods such as Graph Neural Networks. Experience with LLMs for biological data extraction and standardization is specifically requested. Knowledge of multi-omics integration and plant biology is an advantage, and familiarity with large datasets and high-performance computing is desirable. English proficiency and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are also expected.

The appointment is for two years with the possibility of extension. Salary and terms follow the Danish collective labour agreement. Applications must be submitted by 12 October 2026 through Aarhus University’s recruitment system. Required documents include a CV, diploma, motivation letter, and two recommendation letters.
