About this position

Postdoctoral Researcher in Computational Analysis of Structural Renal Pathology at the University of Oxford, Centre for Human Genetics / Oxford Kidney Pathology Group.

This postdoctoral project focuses on computational analysis of structural renal pathology, including analysis of omics data from human kidney biopsy tissue, kidney spatial transcriptomics, and collaborative work on the high-resolution structure of the podocyte slit diaphragm. The group’s research interests include structurally informed analysis of renal pathology across tissue scales, with emphasis on tubular injury patterning and glomerular disease.

The role involves planning, managing, and conducting academic research, testing hypotheses, analysing scientific data, and contributing original ideas for new projects. The post is especially suited to candidates with a strong background in mathematics, applied modelling of biological processes, bioinformatics, statistics, programming, and biophysical approaches.

Eligibility: essential requirement is a PhD/DPhil (or close to completion) in mathematics, with the ability to integrate mathematical, statistical, and biophysical approaches to biological questions. Strong analytical and programming skills are required.

Funding: part-time fixed-term contract until 31 December 2026, funded by EU/UKRI. Salary is Research Grade 7: £39,424-£45,212 per annum pro rata, inclusive of Oxford University weighting.

How to apply: submit an online application with a CV and supporting statement only. The supporting statement should address each selection criterion with examples. Deadline: 4 August 2026 at 12:00 midday.
