About this position
Rice University is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher for an interdisciplinary project at the interface of computational protein design, protein engineering, and repeat-expansion disease biology.
The position is a collaboration between the Cameron Glasscock lab in Biosciences and the Jessica Butts lab in Bioengineering, supported by the Amyloid Disease and Mechanism Center at Rice University. The project focuses on developing new approaches to target C9orf72 repeat expansions by engineering proteins that selectively recognize pathogenic repeat-associated nucleic acid structures. The goal is to create new tools to interrogate and ultimately modulate repeat-expansion disease biology.
The postdoc will lead work spanning computational protein design, structure prediction, high-throughput yeast display screening, protein engineering, and iPSC-based disease modeling. This is a strong fit for candidates interested in combining computational and experimental approaches in a collaborative environment.
Applicants should be motivated to work across computational and experimental boundaries and be ready to take substantial ownership of an ambitious project. The post is available to start as soon as possible. No deadline, stipend amount, or tuition details are provided in the post.
To apply, email Jessica Butts and Cameron Glasscock with a CV, a brief description of your research background, and a short explanation of why you are interested in joining the labs and this project.
