About this position

The research group of Professor Yizhi You in the Department of Physics at Northeastern University is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in condensed matter theory and quantum information science.

The project sits at the interface of quantum information science and quantum many-body physics, with interests including dissipative and decohering quantum many-body systems, nonequilibrium phases and dynamics, quantum-information approaches to many-body physics, quantum dynamics and complexity, neural quantum states (NQS), and AI-assisted approaches to quantum information.

The successful candidate will work primarily with Prof. Yizhi You and may collaborate with other faculty at Northeastern University and the broader Boston-area quantum science community.

Eligibility: a Ph.D. in Physics or a closely related field by the start date is required. Strong analytical or numerical skills are expected, and experience with DMRG, tensor-network methods, quantum Monte Carlo (QMC), neural quantum states, machine-learning methods, or related computational approaches is highly desirable.

Funding: the position offers competitive compensation and research travel support. The initial appointment is for one year, with possible renewal by mutual agreement.

Application: apply through AcademicJobsOnline. Submit a cover letter, CV with publications, research statement, and contact details for 2–3 references. At least two recommendation letters must also be submitted through the application site.

Location: Boston, Massachusetts, United States. Applications are reviewed immediately and accepted until the position is filled.
