About this position
National Institutes for Quantum Science and Technology (Takasaki Institute for Quantum Technology) is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher for a project on electron-photon quantum correlation and its application to nano-optical measurement.
The project is part of JST CREST research on “Next-Generation Electron Microscopy Opened Up by Electron-Photon Quantum Correlation.” The successful candidate will work on fundamental research into the generation and control of quantum entanglement between electrons and photons in cathodoluminescence (CL) excited by electron beams in electron microscopes, and on extracting new information from photon correlation measurements of CL. The research aims to expand these methods to a variety of luminescent materials and advance nanoscale optical property analysis.
Research fields / keywords: quantum optics, optical properties, semiconductors, nanostructure physics, optical engineering, nanotechnology and materials.
Eligibility: Applicants must hold a doctoral degree obtained within the last eight years (with limited exceptions for certain recognized foreign qualifications). Prior postdoctoral employment at this organization makes applicants ineligible. Experience in optical properties, nanooptics, or quantum optics is desirable, though strong motivation for interdisciplinary research is also valued.
Funding and conditions: Annual income is approximately 4–6 million yen, with monthly salary options of 370,000 / 400,000 / 450,000 yen depending on experience and performance. Benefits include commuting, housing, and night work allowances, plus social insurance and pension coverage. The position is fixed-term and non-tenure-track.
Location: Takasaki City, Gunma Prefecture, Japan.
Application window: October 1, 2026 to January 31, 2027. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and may close early once a suitable candidate is found.
How to apply: Submit the required documents through the recruitment agency website portal. Required materials include a CV, publication list, summary of major achievements, future research aspirations, up to five reprints, degree certificate, and contact details for two or more referees.
