About this position
Queen's University Belfast is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher / Research Fellow to join the team of Dr Judith Lechner, Dr Karis Little, and Prof Alan Stitt at the Wellcome-Wolfson Institute for Experimental Medicine.
The project is funded by Fight for Sight and focuses on the role of endothelial progenitor cells (EPCR) in ischaemic retinopathies. This is a strong opportunity for researchers interested in biology, medical science, vascular biology, angiogenesis, retinal disease, and vascular repair/regeneration in experimental eye disease.
The post is a fixed-term research role with a salary of £41,519 per annum. The university also highlights its benefits package, including generous annual leave, pension schemes, development opportunities, and flexible working support.
Applicants should have or be about to obtain a PhD in a relevant biomedical or life sciences discipline. The role requires hands-on experience in biomedical research and techniques such as cell culture, dissection, immunohistochemistry, molecular biology, and in vivo models. Strong analytical, organisational, and computing skills are essential, along with experience in imaging, flow cytometry, real-time PCR, and gene expression analysis. The team is looking for someone highly self-motivated, able to work independently, and comfortable contributing to a collaborative research environment.
Applications are submitted online via the Queen's University Belfast recruitment portal. The closing date is 2026-06-08.
