About this position

Karolinska Institutet is recruiting a postdoctoral researcher in environmental epidemiology at the Institute of Environmental Medicine in Solna, Stockholm, Sweden.

The project focuses on urban environmental exposures and cardiopulmonary health, asking whether further reductions in air pollution at already-low concentrations still produce additional health benefits. The research uses nationwide Swedish register data with individual-level, time-varying exposure assessment, and also leverages comparable Danish register data for cross-national analyses.

The position also involves the BAMSE study, following 4,089 participants from birth to age 26, including work on molecular mechanisms linking environmental exposures to respiratory health.

Applicants should have a PhD in epidemiology, biostatistics, medicine, or a related field. Required or strongly preferred experience includes longitudinal data analysis, time-varying exposures, and strong R skills; experience with causal inference methods for longitudinal data, Nordic registers, or high-dimensional molecular data is meritorious.

This is a two-year position based in Solna, Stockholm. Deadline: 30 September 2026. Apply through the linked application portal, and contact Zhebin Yu at [email protected] for questions.
