About this position
Amsterdam UMC is recruiting a Postdoctoral Researcher in gender & cardiovascular health within the Horizon Europe-funded EQUITY-AF project. The role sits in the Department of Medical Psychology at Amsterdam UMC, location VUmc, and focuses on how sociocultural gender determinants influence cardiovascular health, especially women's health and atrial fibrillation.
The project aims to improve the diagnosis and treatment of atrial fibrillation by addressing differences related to biological sex and sociocultural gender factors. A key part of the work is developing a sex-specific risk prediction tool that integrates hormonal, genetic, and social factors to support more inclusive and effective care.
You will work closely with Dr. David Doyle and collaborate with an international, interdisciplinary network of researchers across Europe. The position offers room to develop your own research interests in gender, health, and social factors while contributing to project studies and collaborative research activities.
Requirements include a PhD in a relevant field such as psychology, neuroscience, or public health, or being close to completion of such a PhD. Strong English communication skills are required. Experience with mixed-methods research in the sociomedical sciences and/or machine learning approaches to health data is desirable.

The contract starts at 12 months with the intention to extend to a total of three years, and the salary is €3,724 to €5,867 gross per month for full-time employment, plus an 8.3% end-of-year bonus. Public transport costs are fully reimbursed, and additional employment benefits are mentioned.
Deadline: 1 November 2026. The first round of interviews is scheduled for 4 November.
