About this position

The Barcelona Institute for Global Health (ISGlobal) is recruiting a full-time postdoctoral researcher to join a new group led by Professor Anna Roca. ISGlobal is a renowned institution dedicated to tackling global public health challenges through research, policy translation, and education, with a strong emphasis on both communicable and non-communicable diseases and their environmental and climate determinants. The institute is recognized for excellence by the Spanish Science Ministry and organizes research across five major programs, including infectious diseases, maternal-child health, and environmental health.

The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating aspects of ongoing multi-national studies, conducting secondary analyses on data from clinical trials and epidemiological studies in low-and-middle-income countries, and working with publicly available datasets. Responsibilities include data cleaning, statistical analysis, drafting manuscripts for high-impact journals, supporting proposal writing, disseminating findings at conferences and workshops, collaborating with study teams and external specialists, and potentially supervising MSc students.

Applicants must have a PhD in statistics, epidemiology, global health, or related fields, with at least two first-author peer-reviewed publications. Essential skills include experience in research in LMICs, managing large and complex datasets, proficiency in statistical packages (preferably R and STATA), strong organizational and communication skills, and motivation to deliver high-quality research outputs. Proficiency in English is required, while Spanish and/or Catalan are advantageous. Desirable qualifications include experience with infectious diseases, microbiology (including antimicrobial resistance), and meta-analysis.

The contract is for 18 months, with a possible extension to 2.5 years depending on funding, and offers a gross annual salary of €31,000–€35,000. ISGlobal is committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, encouraging applications from candidates of all backgrounds. The application process involves submitting a CV and cover letter via the online portal, with interviews potentially occurring during the application period. The selection process includes technical and HR interviews, and may require technical or psychological competency tests.

The position is based in Barcelona, Spain, offering an excellent opportunity to contribute to impactful global health research in a dynamic and multidisciplinary environment.
