About this position

University of Oxford Faculty of Law is advertising a Postdoctoral Researcher position for the HuRiEE project at the Centre for Socio-Legal Studies. The project examines human rights mobilisation, claims-making before the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR), and how these processes shape societies in Eastern Europe and Russia.

The successful candidate will work on mixed-methods analysis of qualitative and quantitative data collected in earlier project phases, contribute to at least two high-quality publications, and help develop future research ideas and proposals. The role also includes dissemination at conferences and seminars and collaboration with the wider research team.

Applicants should hold, or be close to completing, a relevant PhD/DPhil in socio-legal studies, political science, sociology, human rights, or a related field. Experience in managing large-scale data collection projects and working with external research partners is required, along with a strong publication record or clear potential to publish in leading journals.

This is a full-time, fixed-term post until 31 March 2028, based in Oxford, United Kingdom, with an office presence of at least three days per week during term time. Salary is £39,424–£47,779 per annum.

Deadline: midday on Monday 7 September 2026. Apply online via the University of Oxford recruitment portal and submit a covering letter and CV. In addition, send one item of written work as a single PDF by email to [email protected].
