About this position
The University of Barcelona is offering a fully funded postdoctoral position in the Mucosal Immunology Lab for a highly motivated researcher interested in inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) translational research.
This postdoctoral project is supported by a CPP23 grant from the Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades and involves a collaborative public-private partnership between the University of Barcelona (UB), the Centre for Genomic Regulation (CRG), the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC), and OrikineBio. The research aims to advance a potential breakthrough therapy for IBD and contributes to the development of engineered cytokine-based therapies.
The successful candidate will lead experimental work in the laboratory, including in vitro functional assays using primary cells from IBD patients and the application of systems immunology approaches to identify predictive biomarkers of treatment response. The role also includes participation in additional ongoing IBD-related projects in the lab.
Applicants should hold a PhD in Immunology or a closely related field and demonstrate solid experience in functional immunological assays with primary immune cells, protein analytics, and multiparametric flow cytometry. Strong English communication skills are required, and experience in human immunology, IBD research, high-impact publishing, single-cell RNA sequencing, and project management will be considered an advantage.
The position is full-time (37.5 hours/week) and offered as a temporary contract for 2.5 years. The funding package includes a competitive salary, with details indicating 24,825.81€ total (2,600€ x 10.5 months). The post is based at the University of Barcelona in Spain, with access to state-of-the-art facilities and a collaborative multidisciplinary environment across academia and industry.
The application deadline is 29 September 2026 at 23:59 (Europe/Madrid). Candidates must submit an application form, full CV, and motivation letter via the application website.
