About this position

The University of Luxembourg, a modern and international research university, is seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher in Lifespan & Environmental Psychology for the interdisciplinary project "Regenerative economies, generative practices and well-being in a post-growth transformation (ReGenerate)". This project, funded by the Institute of Advanced Studies, is jointly led by Prof. Dr. Anna Kornadt (Psychology) and Prof. Dr. Christian Schulz (Geography), and integrates perspectives from lifespan developmental and environmental psychology as well as environmental economic geography.

The successful candidate will join the Institute for Lifespan Development, Family and Culture within the Department of Behavioral and Cognitive Sciences. The role involves designing, implementing, and analyzing a daily diary survey across a broad adult age range, contributing to interdisciplinary teamwork, and taking a leading role in high-quality journal publications. The researcher will disseminate findings to both academic and non-academic stakeholders, actively contribute to the international visibility of the project, and support ongoing and future research activities within the group.

ReGenerate investigates how regenerative economic practices and sustainable attitudes emerge, are maintained, and experienced across the adult lifespan, and how these relate to individual, organizational, and societal well-being in post-growth contexts. The project employs innovative multi-method designs, including daily diary and ecological momentary assessment (EMA) approaches, and in-depth qualitative fieldwork. A key scientific contribution is the integration of micro-level motivational and well-being processes with meso-level organizational practices and their spatial embeddedness, advancing theory on generativity, sustainable transitions, social connectedness, and well-being.

The postdoctoral researcher will lead the quantitative core of the project, collaborating closely with the interdisciplinary team. There is an opportunity to develop an independent research agenda within the thematic framework and to contribute to high-impact publications. The position is based at the Belval Campus and offers a fixed-term contract of 24 months, with a yearly gross salary of EUR 85,176. The University of Luxembourg provides a multilingual and international environment, high-quality equipment, and close ties to the business world and Luxembourg labour market.

Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in psychology or a closely related discipline, demonstrate strong interest in interdisciplinary research, and possess solid experience with daily diary or EMA designs and advanced multilevel data analysis. Fluency in English is required, and knowledge of French or German is an asset. The university promotes an inclusive culture and encourages applications from individuals of all backgrounds.

To apply, submit your application online through the University of Luxembourg HR system, including a CV, cover letter, PhD diploma or expected defense date, transcript of courses, list of publications, and contact details of two academic referees. Early applications are encouraged as they will be processed upon reception. Applications by email will not be considered.
