About this position

New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT) is advertising a postdoctoral researcher position in machine learning and quantum computing, with applications to fluid dynamics. The role is based at NJIT in Newark, New Jersey, in the New York City metropolitan area, and is part of an NSF-funded project in the PI’s group.

The project focuses on developing, training, and benchmarking machine learning models, including quantum approaches, using an operational and verified software infrastructure already developed by the group. The successful candidate will conduct original research, lead journal publications, present at international conferences, and help mentor graduate students.

Applicants should have a Ph.D. completed or imminent in machine learning, quantum computing, applied/numerical mathematics, computer science, computational sciences, or a related field. A strong research record in machine learning and/or quantum computing is preferred, and candidates must have at least two first-author papers. Strong scientific programming skills in Python, C/C++, or Modern Fortran are required; Julia experience is a plus.

The appointment is for two years, with a possible extension to four years depending on funding availability. International applications are welcome. To apply, email a single PDF with your CV, one-page research statement, and three references to [email protected] with the subject line Quantum ML Postdoc. Applicants should also state their legal status to work in the United States.
